Zaouiat (Mausoleum) Sidi Ben Arous

The Zaouia, classified as a historical monument by a decree issued in 1928, is currently the burial place of the saint Sidi Ben Arous (deceased in 1463), a saint and scholar. The Zaouia is located on the site of the Fondouk where Sidi Ben Arous had established himself upon his return from an initiatory journey through the Maghreb. It is the Hafside Sultan who built the Zaouia of the Holy man for himself in 1437.
