Tourbet El Bey (Tomb of the Beys)

The Hanafi Turks had introduced the tradition of building sumptuous monuments to the dead, called Turbès or Tourba. Tourbet El Bey (or also Tourba of the Beys), mausoleum of the Husseinite princes, built during the reign of Ali Pacha II (1758-1782), is the largest monument of its kind in Tunis. It houses the tombs of the princely Husseinite family.
