The Blue Room

The Blue Room is a B&B located at Diwan Street, in a historic house, part of the former Agha Palace (named after Mustapha Agha, former mamlouk (slave) of Mustafa Pasha Bey who gave him his first name, who became Minister of War. The house was divided in the middle of the 19th century into three separate palaces.

One of the three palaces, Dar Louzir, consisted of four communicating modules, according to a classical plan: the main house, on two levels around a large patio; the house reserved for the servants and the kitchens; on the other side of the Divan Street, stables and warehouses (makhazin) and finally an independent apartment, intended for the guests, built above the makhazin and the Divan Street.

A final partition, at the turn of the 20th century, detached the guest apartment and the makhazin, which then formed Dar Belkadhi, which was bought in 1996 by the Ben Miled family.

The room that gave its name to the B&B is located in the Ali-El-Barrani (independent apartment on the floor, traditionally reserved for guests). It is a spacious room (about 40 m2), in the Tunisian Italian style of the mid 19th century. It includes a large room with a living room and a sofa bed (possibility to install a desk), an alcove with a double bed, a closet and a bathroom.
